What is WAICY
The World Artificial Intelligence Competition for Youth (WAICY) is a global competition challenging students to learn and use artificial intelligence (AI) technology to solve real problems. The competition opens to students from age 4 to 20 from all around the world. Each year, the competition has a unique theme. In 2018, the theme was “how to make the world better with AI”.
The WAICY aims to bring AI to students all around the world and spark creative, innovative, and artistic demonstrations of the technology that is able to make a change to the future.
ReadyAI provides toolkits and curriculums for students and schools to prepare for the competition. During this four day workshop, students can learn about the concepts of AI and the 6 aspects of AI that’s been defined by the top AI researchers from Carnegie Mellon Universities.
By the end of the workshop, students can be able to use tools like Cozmo to program and compete.
The final competition takes place at the end of July each year. During the one day competition, the judges will overview all the selected works from national-finals.
How to Join
You can start your project from any point of the year. Find the nearest regional competition and participate. If you are a school or organization, you can start your own regional competition and bring your best teams to the national-finals and the annual-final competition. The final competition will be hold at the end of July each year.
On July 28, 2018. over 200 students participated in the 2018 World Artificial Intelligence Competition for Youth (WAICY 2018) sponsored by ReadyAI at the Jared L. Cohon University Center, a hub of the Carnegie Mellon University campus, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
